Read for Life Gala Reception & Silent Auction

The annual Read for Life Gala is our signature Spring Fundraising Event, featuring a new honoree and venue every year. Guests attend the two-hour open house event in the month of April to bid on auction packages filled with items of great appeal, all of which are donated to the Kern Adult Literacy Council throughout the year. Guests may also make financial donations to provide scholarships for Kern Adult Literacy Council students. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the Read for Life Gala go to the Kern Adult Literacy Council, allowing the Council to continue offering literacy services to the community of Kern County.

Our most recent Read for Life Gala was held on April 19, 2012 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the home of Dallas & Mary Grider, honoring the 2012 Literacy for Life Recipients Ray and Joan Dezember. The attendance outcome reached a record of about 500 guests, raising over $65,000 in sponorships and donations.
