2008 Literacy for Life Award Recipient Larry E. Reider
Past Events:
The 2008 Read for Life Gala held at the Bakersfield Museum of Art
honoring Larry E. Reider, Superintendent of Schools.
The Bakersfield Californian Festival of Books was a huge success. WE
look forward to seeing you next year November 1, 2008. Earlene Fowler
will be our keynote speaker along with several other authors to be
announced.
Bakersfield Californian's Festival of Books featuring J.A. Jance was a
wonderful event thanks to the community of Kern County. We hope to
see you next year.
The Book A Book Sale held on September 8th was a major success.

The Kern Adult Literacy Council "Read for Life Gala and Auction"
held on April 26, 2007 was a major success.
Thank you Bart Hill and the Community of Kern County for helping
Kern Adult Literacy Council raise over 100,000!
The Second Annual Festival of Books was held Saturday, November 4, 2006 from
10-2 at the CSUB Gymnasium.
This event raised $32,000 for the Literacy Council and we doubled our
attendance from last year!!!
